Like its predecessor ALACE, APEX is an autonomous drifting profiler used to measure subsurface currents and make profile measurements.

Gliders

Teledyne Webb Research has delivered over 120 gliders to 40 user groups in 13 nations

Slocum Glider
The autonomous Slocum Glider moves up and down in the ocean by changing buoyancy. Steerable, gliding wings provide horizontal propulsion.

  • Electric Glider - Versatile, maneuverable, and powered with alkaline batteries.
  • Thermal Glider - Long range and endurance using environmental energy (Thermal Engine).

Discus Glider
Current advances include a glider that is both mobile and bottom resting.

Rafos
The RAFOS Source transmits at 261 Hz and181 dB, at depths to 2000 m. Moored underwater sound sources are furnished as turnkey systems, complete with projector, signal generator, programmable controller, pressure housing, and batteries.

Swept Frequency Source
The Swept-Frequency source has applications in Ocean Acoustic Tomography.
